Bizarro-Google: if Websites were held in Street Name

DealVector invites you to the Twilight Zone:  Imagine an internet where you don’t just use Google to find a website.  You also must ask it permission to even view the site.

And Google, or should we call it Bizarro-Google, is the only search engine you are allowed to use.
To process your request,  Bizarro-Google sends the request to each of its hundred or so departments.
Each of these departments is in charge of a different part of the internet.  You don’t know which one has the links to your site, so you have to make requests to all of them. Fun!
Within each department,  the staff has several days to process your request. They may wait till the last minute to aggregate your request with others (for efficiency). But Bizarro-Google absolutely will process the request within about 20 days, so don’t worry.
On the other hand, if you don’t hear back, you won’t know why. You won’t even know if the request got through.
If it does get through, polite Bizarro-Google department staff at that point will ask the website that you want to visit whether it is ok if people visit the site.
When the answer is yes, permission is granted to view the site. Yay!
But, before getting too excited, remember that only certain special people are even allowed to make a Bizarro-Google request in the first place.  If you are not one of this privileged class then, as Seinfeld might say: no soup for you!
This is what the “internet” is like for users that want simply to send messages to or connect with the beneficial holders of financial instruments.
These include corporate bonds, municipal bonds, CDOs, CLOs, RMBS, CMBS, Fund interests, or really any financial asset. It is an incredibly large and high-value data-set.
For investors, this Rube Goldberg machine has high hidden costs in terms of corporate governance and trading that are easily worth tens of billions of dollars to the economy. Welcome to the information blockade that is called the Street Name System, the Bizarro-Google of the financial world.
